Broadcast journalism is an 8th grade ELA elective. It is a 1\2 year course
which allows 8th grade students to further develop fundamental grammar
and communication skills through the use of camcorders in audio/video
productions. Topics covered include interviewing skills, story writing,
camera use and procedures, combining shots in actual filming, and
continuity.  This class teaches process writing for informational text
presented in a video broadcast format.

Students will:

1.  Become aware of current events and write about them.

2.  Learn the process of proofreading and editing.

3.  Work cooperatively in project groups.

4. Learn basic video editing technique.

5. Present writing projects as news stories for Hawk T.V., a news show
for middle school students
