Dear Parents:
    Welcome to Fourth Grade!  I am Vicki Brittain and I will be teaching your child Math and Health this
year.  I look forward to a wonderful school experience with you and your child!  Please feel free to visit
the classroom any time and contact me whenever needed at vbrittain@caddo.k12.la.us  A note in your
child’s agenda will also suffice.
    For all the many years I’ve taught, one thing remains as important as ever:  ATTENDANCE!!! When your
child misses school, he/she has lost valuable lessons which sometimes cannot be made up.  As you
know, LEAP is given in 4th grade, and math is a very important subject.  This year only 11 unexcused
absences will be allowed in Caddo Parish.  Please be mindful of this and have your child present if at all
possible.  
This year your child will have both a math textbook and workbook.  There will be homework Monday
through Thursday in the workbook, but you may want to refer to the textbook for explanation of skills.  I
will be obtaining math lessons through outside resources too, but those will be taught only in class.  
Your child will also have a one-subject spiral notebook which we will refer to as our resource book.  
This will contain math rules and information including all their math facts as well as the wording I use
when teaching a math concept.  This has proven to be beneficial to parents when helping with
homework at home.  Because your child must have easy access to it at all times, please make sure it is
returned in their backpacks daily.
