Welcome Herndon Hawks!


My name is Donna Riggs and I teach 7th grade science.  My teaching philosophy is a simple one:  All students can
learn if they are given instruction that meets their needs in a positive environment. I look forward to a great year at
Herndon and I feel blessed to have such amazing students & parents!

                                                         

Supplies Needed EVERYDAY

1. 3 ring binder filled with loose-leaf paper
2. Pencil pouch with pens, pencils and a highlighter
3. Herndon Agenda


Grading


All assignments will be graded according to the standard Caddo Parish grading scale.


Notebook / Grade sheets

Students will keep a current grade sheet in the front of his/her Science binder at all times. The grade sheet is yet
another way for you to quickly average their grade at home.


Classroom Rules

1. Come to class on time with necessary supplies.
2. Listen & follow directions the first time they are given.
3. Exercise self-control; Raise hand before speaking.
4. Leave gum & candy at home.
5. Stay on task and remain seated unless instructed otherwise.


In order for me to teach you/your child to the best of my ability and for you/your child to learn and succeed, I feel it
is necessary to have specific rules of behavior in my classroom.
Each rule is clearly visible in the classroom and has been discussed with your child. Consequences for
inappropriate behavior will also be discussed.

Consequences

1.Nonverbal warning (the “look”)
2.Verbal warning
3.Phone call home and/or Detention
4.Referral to office

Rewards

1. Verbal praise
2.Positive note or phone call home
3.Sweets/Treats/Prize
